Seattle
I got a little taste of Seattle and have been craving more ever since.
There is so much to love about this city, but I was especially stunned by the view of Mount Rainier. You can see it towering over the city from just about anywhere. I also loved the focus on health and outdoor activities in such a technology-driven city.
To Eat & Drink
Tulio – An award-winning upscale Italian restaurant.
Sushi Kashiba – If you’re into sushi, then this restaurant should be top of the list for authentic Japanese cuisine. The chef trained under Jiro Ono of the documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi.
Bar Melusine – A small seafood restaurant with beautiful green nautical decor.
Dahlia Bakery – A cute little bakery in downtown Seattle that will satisfy any sweet tooth.
Bateau – Right next door to Bar Melusine, Bateau is a small bistro-style steakhouse with a great atmosphere.
To Do & See
Pike Place Market – Public market, open 365 days a year, selling everything from flowers to fish.
Market Theater Gum Wall – Worth a walk-by to see this massive (kind of gross?) wall full of used gum.
Chihuly Garden & Glass Museum – If you’re a fan of Chihuly then this is a must-see.
Space Needle – This is worth the wait and the views of Seattle are incredible.
Volunteer Park Conservatory – A small historic greenhouse at Volunteer Park. Right outside is the Volunteer Park Dahlia Garden, which is not to be missed when in season!
Seattle Japanese Garden – A Japanese urban sanctuary with winding paths, benches, and gorgeous colors.
Museum of Pop Culture – A colorful (and very well designed) museum dedicated to contemporary popular culture.

One of my favorite college pastimes was going to greenhouses and taking pictures. It was an escape from a crowded beer-filled campus…
